40 Years of National Awards

With the lowering of the Union Jack on August 1st 1962 and the raising of the Trinidad and Tobago National flag, Trinidad and Tobago became an independent nation. Prior to this, Trinidad and Tobago, as a British colony, participated in the system of Commonwealth Awards conferred by Her Majesty the Queen of England. These Commonwealth Awards comprised the Peerage and Baronetage, Privy Councillors, various Orders of Knighthood, Decorations and Medals, in Civil and Military Divisions.

The Immigration team was also joined on the trip by His Excellency Dr. Neil Parsan, Ambassador of Trinidad and Tobago to the United States of America.
