Ministry Receives Donation of Food Vouchers for Vulnerable Persons from the Corporate Sector
Following the Government of Trinidad and Tobago’s public appeal for private organisations and citizens to demonstrate their patriotism to the most vulnerable at this time, the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services (MSDFS) is pleased to acknowledge a recent donation by a local supermarket chain.
On Tuesday May 5 th 2020, Chief Executive Officer of Tru Valu Supermarket Ltd, Mr. Sunil Maharajh presented Ag. Permanent Secretary of the MSDFS, Mrs. Sheila Seecharan, with a contribution of food vouchers at the Ministry’s Head Office on St. Vincent Street in Port-of-Spain. The vouchers, which are in denominations of $50. and $100. to the value of $10,000 is part of the company’s on-going efforts to spread goodwill and foster hope within communities.
Permanent Secretary Seecharan thanked Mr. Maharajh for Tru Valu’s generous gesture and commended his team for doing its part in the fight against COVID-19. In response, Mr. Maharajh noted that his Management and staff were happy to assist and were committed to ensuring that all citizens are able to remain well-nourished and productive, in response to the social and economic hardships that are being experienced.
To this end, both parties agreed that a happy and healthy population is a critical success factor in Trinidad and Tobago’s post-COVID-19 recovery efforts.
