Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, the Honourable Marlene McDonald
As a woman of many talents, the Honourable Marlene McDonald is truly blazing a trail for others to follow in the areas of politics, sport and youth development. Born at Moseley Place, East Dry River, Laventille, she has a broad and varied professional history which includes, being a former Secondary School teacher, a Corporate Secretary of Tobago Express, General Manager of the Diego Martin Credit Union Co-operative Society Limited and a qualified economist. Prior to taking office as Minister, she was also a practicing attorney with her own law firm, having graduated from the University of the West Indies and Hugh Wooding Law School. Minister McDonald has other interests as well. She is actively involved in sport as a member of the Spikesville Sports Club in Laventille and enjoys long distance running and marathon running. The Minister is also involved in other service organizations including the St. Martin’s Welfare Association and the Laventille Youth Development Company. Apart from her job as Minister, she also serves as the Member of Parliament for Port of Spain South, a responsibility she takes very seriously. She is a strong advocate for equal opportunities for personal growth, self-expression, enjoyment of life and participation in the development process. |
