Attorney General, John Jeremie
Senator, the Honourable John Jeremie SC, was the 11th AG from October 2003 to November 2007, before being appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, in London. He is now the 13th AG having been re-appointed in May 2009. Senator Jeremie is both a respected attorney and an academic, having lectured in the Faculty of Law at the UWI, St Augustine and Cave Hill campuses. His lecturing career started in 1990 and continued until 2003. He also practiced law at the same time at the firm of Alexander Jeremie & Co. which was established in 1968. As an academic, Senator Jeremie has been published extensively in refereed journals in the United Kingdom and in the Caribbean, especially in the area of Corporate and Tax Law. He was the Overseas Editor, Caribbean region, for the British Journal of Financial Crime as well as an active researcher in the sphere of law concerning the operation of capital markets and debt instruments in the Caribbean. Senator Jeremie was called to the bar in Trinidad & Tobago in 1990. He attained a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) from King’s College, London University that year. |
