In collaboration with Nature Seekers, a community-based conservation organisation located in the village of Matura in the north eastern region of Trinidad, the Ministry of Tourism is pleased to invite your media house to attend the Launch of the Salybia Recreation & Water Sport Centre on Tuesday November 03, 2009.

The Ministry of Tourism has worked with the community to enhance the Salybia beach facilities, develop infrastructural improvements such as a Car Park and interpretative signage, refurbished the Lifeguard Quarters and provide recreational services such as vending services and a kayak centre to beach users. The Salybia facility also now has wash rooms facilities for the physically disabled and is the first community on the North East Coast of Trinidad to have Lifeguard Quarters. The Salybia project is based on our vision that the development of our ecotourism product must result in real and tangible benefits to people.

The Honourable Joseph Ross, Minister of Tourism, will deliver the Feature Address. After the Official Ceremony the Nature Seekers community group will conduct special kayak tours for invitees and media personnel.

Transport has been arranged for all media representatives to depart Port of Spain at 8.30am promptly. It is anticipated that the Official Opening Ceremony and Kayaking will conclude by 2.00pm. Transport will be available to all media personnel for the return to Port of Spain and environs.

The shuttle transport service is available from our offices located at the corner of Duke and St. Vincent Street, Port of Spain. Breakfast inclusive of beverages, snacks, and bottled water will be provided during the journey to Salybia. Lunch will be served at the Salybia Beach facility
