Minister of Plannning and Sustainable Development, Senator Dr the Honourable Bhoendradatt Tewarie
August 02, 2012: Cabinet is in the process of considering the proposals by two private companies for the development of Invaders' Bay in Chaguaramas. Speaking at the post-Cabinet news conference at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s, Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development, Dr Bhoendradatt Tewarie announced that the development project has been under consideration since 2005. “At that time a decision was taken to request proposals for the bay but it was not executed. When I came into office in 2011, I was given the responsibility for the project. We invited bids and proposals for the development of the bay. Ten were received and three were recommended to Cabinet. However, following a due diligence report two investors were looked at,” Tewarie explained.
The Minister, however, said only a small portion of the lands at Invaders' will be used by the developers, leaving remaining development to be carried out by other contractors.
