Labour expo on July 4

Over 150 cooperatives and businesses will be featured at the MOLSMED CONNEX 2012, an exposition showcasing the services of both the Ministry and its respective Agencies.

The exposition will be officially launched on July 4 in the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, at 8:00 am by Minister of Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Development, Errol McLeod.

Among the Ministry’s Agencies participating in this exposition are the Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies; the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) and; the National Entrepreneurship Development Company Limited (NEDCO).

The theme of the exposition is “Meeting Our Labour and Small and Micro Enterprise Demands”. This event represents (in part) the Ministry’s commemoration of our Nation’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations and the International Year of Co-operatives 2012. The expo will run from July 4 to July 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily

MILSMED CONNEX 2012 will provide a space for small and micro enterprise owners to thrive, as they develop their businesses; to create an avenue for the mass dissemination of information on services and programmes offered by MOLSMED and its respective agencies as well as other key stakeholders; to promote the Ministry’s National Employment Service’ as a reliable avenue for employment creation, both for employers and employees; to educate the public on the significance of the Co-operative Movement in Trinidad and Tobago and how it can benefit them and; to  foster a greater respect and understanding of the skills and abilities of Trinidad and Tobago nationals.

The exposition will feature over 150 co-operatives and businesses pertaining to the following sectors: eco tourism; graphic design; mobile application, information and communication technologies; fashion design; wedding planning and event management; health and wellness; construction and engineering consultancy; catering services as well as landscaping and horticulture, among others.
