The Caribbean Community Secretariat in collaboration with the Caribbean Centre for Competitiveness (CCfC) will host the first regional stakeholder consultations under the theme: Towards the development of a value proposition for the Caribbean Centre for Competitiveness. The consultation which will take place in the conference room of the Secretariat headquarters on 29 June is the first of several that the CCfC will host regionally, as it seeks to ensure that the Centre designs and develops products and services which respond to the needs of its stakeholders. Executive Director of the Centre, Mrs. Sagewan-Alli will be attending the consultation and will also use the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on the CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque. The Caribbean Centre for Competitiveness (CCfC) was established (September 2010) through a Technical Cooperation Agreement, between the Inter-American Development Bank and The University of the West Indies with funding from DFID. It was operationalised in September 2011 to serve the private, public and academic sectors by engendering regional competitiveness through specific market - driven actions. The CCfC will share information on its specific objectives and goals, which include (1) Research and case study analysis, towards understanding regional firm based competitiveness and the competitiveness of ecosystems in the region; (2) development of technical capacity in competitiveness; business climate reform; clustering and Small Medium Enterprise (SME) development; (3) development and implementation of training programs for the public and private sectors including a flagship executive program in competitiveness; and (4) providing an independent platform for public private dialogue and collaboration. In addition to this important Consultation, Mrs. Sagewan-Alli will meet with several other key stakeholders in academia, the private and public sectors. The CCfC has expressed its gratitude for the tremendous support offered by the CARICOM Secretariat and looks forward to speaking with our stakeholders at this important Consultation; June 29, 2012 at the CARICOM Secretariat Conference Room from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
