June 05, 2012:

An educational program and display highlighting the importance of recycling, going green and being environmentally conscious was the way the Ministry of Finance celebrated World Environment Day (WED).

WED is an annual celebration, held on June 5, to raise global awareness of the need to take environmentally positive actions.

Reduce!Reuse!Recycle! was promoted at the Ministry's event this year. There was also a video, a display of plants, entertaining reflections along with a presentation from a SWMCOL representative, Gisele Telfer to inform the Ministry's staff on how and why they should be more conscious of the environment.

Brochures were distributed to staff members to act as reminders of the educational programme from the Environmental Management Agency and the Forestry Division of the Ministry of Housing and the Environment.
