Newly appointed Ambassador of Japan discusses agricultural project for students with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications

PORT OF SPAIN: 2nd March, 2012

His Excellency Yoshimasa Tezuka, Ambassador-designate of Japan to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, paid a courtesy call on Dr. the Honourable Surujrattan Rambachan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications on Friday 2nd March, 2012 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communications. The courtesy call preceded the presentation of Letters of Credence by Ambassador Tezuka to His Excellency Professor George Maxwell Richards, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

During the meeting, Minister Rambachan updated Ambassador Tezuka on the most recent issue on the bilateral agenda between Trinidad and Tobago and Japan – the Government of Japan’s approval for the funding of the Project for Promotion of Greenhouse Farming at Primary and Secondary  Schools  in  Trinidad.  Minister  Rambachan  explained  that  this  project  will  aim to sensitize students to dynamic and appealing aspects of agriculture which primarily entails the use of extensive technology. He further elucidated that the project will initially be conducted in five (5) schools across Trinidad and Tobago.

The meeting ended cordially with Ambassador Tezuka expressing his gratitude for the kindness extended to Japan from Trinidad and Tobago regarding the 11th March, 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
