Trinidad and Tobago Government News: Outgoing Scholars Symposium Outgoing Scholars Symposium ================================================================================ 24 October, 2011 02:22:00 October 21, 2011 Media Invitation Tuesday 25th October, 2011 8:30 am The Ballroom, Trinidad Hilton and Conference Centre St. Ann’s As we continue to face global economic challenges, having the required human talent is central to the overall strategy for sustainable development. Education as a means of development remains a priority of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and the Government’s A Level Scholar Programme is one mechanism for assisting with talent development. By awarding scholarships, the Government is encouraging persons to further their education and providing graduates who will continue building a foundation for an intelligent and a creative economy. In order to prepare scholars for tertiary studies, awardees have been invited to attend a symposium designed to ease the transition from high school to the pressures of university and help them to understand the scholarship process. The Honourable Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan, Minister of Public Administration will address the scholars and Georgina Terry, Motivational Coach will manage an interactive session with the scholar and their parent/guardian on University – Making Conscious Choices and also for Parents/Guardians – Understanding Changing Roles. The Scholarships and Advanced Training Division will also provide information on legal obligations and tips on managing finances. This introduction is part of the support programme offered by the Scholarships and Advanced Training Division to scholars for the length of their scholarship period.
