Young commends ongoing efforts in registration of Venezuelan Nationals

Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. addresses Venezuelan migrants at the Registration Centre at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.

Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P., today, visited the Port of Spain and San Fernando Registration Centres for the Venezuelan Migrant Registration Process, to get a first-hand view of continuing operations.

Following a walk-through of the San Fernando Registration Centre this morning, Minister Young noted that the process was flowing smoothly and that all the officials involved were managing the flow effectively. The Minister also took the opportunity to interact with applicants and those waiting to be processed, indicating to them that the Government and State officials are working steadfastly to ensure the registration process is humane.

Earlier today, the Minister visited the Registration Centre located at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain where he engaged applicants directly and encouraged them to maintain order as they registered, to avoid delays in processing. 

Minister Young described the Venezuelan Migrant Registration process as a historic one and thanked all National Security Agencies, as well as other state agencies and volunteers involved who continue to work assiduously for long hours to make it a success.

Minister Young reiterated that the process will be closed on June 14, 2019 as previously announced and the law will revert on June 15, 2019.
