Pigeon Point Beach ranked among best in the world

July 03, 2013:

US based media giant CNN asked their online readers, friends and colleagues to rank what they thought were the world’s 100 top beaches and their responses included exotic locales across the globe including Tobago's Pigeon Point Beach.

CNN’s website described Pigeon Point as a “literal representation of the Caribbean’s ideal, right down to the charming old lady who sells soursop ice cream by the pound”. There is also mention of that iconic feature of Pigeon Point, the thatched-roof jetty which is quite possibly the most photographed jetty in the world.

The beach, which is arguably the most famous on the island, was ranked at position 98 amongst locations such as Panama City Beach in Florida, Bondi Beach in Australia and Bottom Bay in Barbados.

Pigeon Point beach is located on the south-western end of Tobago and is conveniently 20 minutes from Scarborough and 5 minutes from the ANR Robinson International Airport. Pigeon Point is also the jumping off point for a visit to two of Tobago’s most popular sea-based attractions, Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool.

So next time you visit Tobago, make sure that a visit to Pigeon Point Beach is on your list of things to do along with the myriad of other activities available on both islands. Visitors should not pass up the chance to lounge, sun bathe and frolic on what CNN calls, visitors agree and Trinidadians and Tobagonians know is one of the best beaches in the world.
