NACC art winners receive prizes

On July 16th 2019, the Office of the Prime Minister (National AIDS Coordinating Committee) hosted a Prize-Giving Ceremony to honour twenty-two (22) children and youth who participated in its Artwork Competition entitled ‘It’s Beautiful to Know.’ The ceremony was held at the Office of the Prime Minister’s Tower D, International Waterfront Complex location.

The competition focused on HIV/AIDS awareness in Trinidad and Tobago. The competition sought to engage young persons between the ages of 5-18 to use the artistic medium to creatively express matters related to HIV and AIDS. The submissions were based on the following thematic areas: HIV testing and treatment; knowledge of HIV transmission; HIV prevention (e.g. abstinence, risk reduction related to drugs and barrier protection and prevention of mother to child transmission) and stigma and discrimination in the classroom and other youth related activity.

All the participants were recipient of Certificates of Participation and tokens. Prizes were presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners within the three age categories as follows:
