MSDFS is a Finalist in the IDB President’s Awards for Innovation and Service Excellence
The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services has been selected as a finalist in the 2020 edition of the IDB President’s Awards for Innovation and Service Excellence in the Public Sector. The purpose of the President's Awards is to recognize transformational initiatives undertaken by public sector divisions across Trinidad and Tobago.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to vote for the Ministry to win the People’s Choice Award Category today November 26, 2020 on CNC3 at 8:00 pm, where voting instructions will be provided. The people’s choice winners will be selected and will be announced on all social media platforms
The Ministry’s achievement is based on the accelerated social sector activity during the last nine months. In response to the adverse COVID-19 impact on vulnerable and at-risk families, Project HEARD was created. Project HEARD was focused on ‘Helping and Empowering with Assistance Right at your Doorsteps’. This initiative was developed as a response to food insecurity during the lockdown measures to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, by facilitating direct food support to the most vulnerable families in the country.
Project HEARD involved many partners, including staff, statutory bodies and the private sector. It was collaborative and adopted a real-time approach to reducing food insecurity. The competition was open to applicants from the Public Service divisions, statutory bodies, Ministries and state-owned companies.
The award ceremony is carded for December 10th, 2020, where the Finalists and winners will present their acceptance speeches.
