Minster of National Security meets with Ambassador of the Peoples’s Republic of China

Port of Spain: On Wednesday February 24, 2021, Minister of National Security the Honourable Stuart R. Young M.P. met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago His Excellency Fang Qiu and other officials from the Chinese Embassy. The meeting took place at the Ministry of National Security’s Head Office on Abercromby Street, Port of Spain.

The meeting presented an opportunity for Minister Young and His Excellency Qiu to engage in a cordial discourse on significant areas of mutual interest.

Issues discussed included advancing a range of initiatives derived from the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr. The Honourable Keith Rowley’s Inaugural visit to China in 2018, as well as exploring other possibilities.

Today’s meeting underscored the significance of the relationship between the Governments of Trinidad and Tobago and the People’s Republic of China, which the parties agreed will continue to be strengthened.

Also in attendance at this meeting was Mr. Richard Lynch, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Unit, Ministry of National Security.
