Ministry of Social Development and Family Services to launch HIV/AIDS Advocate Campaign

The HIV/AIDS Coordinating Unit of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services (MSDFS) will launch its “Advocates of HIV & AIDS Campaign” during the annual International Women’s Day event on Tuesday 13th March 2018 at the Murchison Browne Auditorium, Port of Spain City Corporation, Port of Spain. The event is carded to begin at 9:00 am


UNAIDS Goodwill Ambassador and Miss Universe 1998, Ms Wendy Fitzwilliam will be inducted as the first HIV advocate due to her experience both as a campaign spokesperson and her advocacy on HIV and AIDS issues.


The Advocacy campaign shall encourage the public (which consists of the Ministry’s clients) to become agents of change and play a pivotal role in increasing the awareness of HIV/AIDS and decrease stigma and discrimination in Trinidad and Tobago. The advocates selected by the Unit shall represent Trinidad and Tobago as individuals who boldly stand in the fight against HIV/AIDS and HIV/AIDS stigma and discrimination.
