Ministry reaches out to family displaced by recent flooding
Following a report from the National Family Services Division that the home of Mr. Wayne Legerton, his wife, who is eight months pregnant; and their five children was destroyed due to the recent flooding, the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services reached out to provide necessary assistance for the family. Temporary accommodation was secured for Mrs Legerton and two of their children in Maraval, while the rest of the family are with relatives in Belmont.
Minister of Social Development and Family Services, the Honourable Cherrie-Ann Crichlow-Cockburn met with Mr. Legerton at her office earlier today, where he was assessed and subsequently received temporary food support; as well as a grant to replace clothing and school supplies for their children. The Ministry was also able to secure an apartment for the family, through its rental assistance grant and will continue to work with the family for any additional support they may need.
The Ministry of Social Development and Family Services remains committed to ensuring that the necessary resources are mobilized and equipped to bring restoration to affected families in the shortest possible time.
