The Ministry of Health extends condolences on the passing of Dr Andy Bhagwandass

The Ministry of Health (MoH) joins with the medical fraternity in mourning the sudden passing of Dr Andy Bhagwandass. The medical fraternity, and by extension Trinidad and Tobago, has lost a devoted physician who has left an indelible mark on the profession to which he gave his best. Deepest condolences are also extended to the family, friends and colleagues of Dr Bhagwandass, on behalf of the Ministry, at this difficult time.

Dr Bhagwandass will be remembered for his significant contributions in the field of medicine as a Consultant of Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC), a position held until his passing. Dr Bhagwandass previously held portfolios of Medical Chief of Staff at the EWMSC and Chairman at the North West Regional Health Authority.

The Minister of Health, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, expressed his sadness over the “loss of a physician at the peak of his career, who displayed a passion for the health and the wellbeing of patients as well as a commitment to improving the public health system”. The Minister of Health further extends condolences to the Bhagwandass family and trusts that they “receive the necessary strength and support from loved ones, during their time of grief.”
