February 19, 2015: Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training, Fazal Karim visited the display area for the ‘aboUTT’ – University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT) Consignment Merchandise Store at the Piarco International Airport, last week. Also present at the site visit, were officials from the University of Trinidad & Tobago (UTT) and the Airports Authority of Trinidad & Tobago (AATT).

The ‘aboUTT’ store is designed as part of UTT’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to create new opportunities for accessing markets, with many of its University led startups lacking access to prime commercial retail outlets.  Minister Karim has endorsed the signature move as “being the first university in the region to have a presence at an international airport. In the spirit of entrepreneurship, students can showcase their talent, products and services to persons who will be travelling to and from the island.”

The products at the soon to be established store will range from the areas of Fashion & Design to Agro-Processing. All products and/or services will evolve from students from various programmes and initiatives of UTT.

Minister Karim also noted that discussions are being held to create a presence at the Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson International Airport, Crown Point, Tobago.
