EMA to continue Air Quality Monitoring in POS

January 30, 2014: The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) wishes to advise the public that while smoke may be seen and smelt within the Port of Spain area, based on our current readings the air quality still remains stabilised within the Port of Spain area.  Our concern at this time remains in and around the Beetham and Sea Lots areas. Air quality tests conducted today within this area suggest that levels have been reduced.

The EMA will continue its air quality monitoring throughout the day and notify the public of any changes. We would further like to reinforce that the public should remain calm at this time and take the necessary precautions from public health officials.

Further updates will be provided as necessary.
