Dookeran to attend Caricom-Singapore High-Level Ministerial Exchange

The Honourable Winston Dookeran, Minister of Foreign Affairs departed Trinidad and Tobago on Friday 12th July, 2013 to attend the CARICOM-Singapore High-level Ministerial Exchange hosted by the Republic of Singapore from 15th to 19th July, 2013 and to pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea from 21st to 23rd July, 2013.
The visit of the Honourable Minister to the Republic of Singapore is in the context of a High-level Ministerial Exchange for Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to partake in discussions under the theme “Governing in a Complex World.” These discussions would be centred on the challenges that Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face as well as the common interests they share.
In addition, Minister Dookeran will pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea on invitation from the Honourable Yun Byung-se, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. This visit is aimed at strengthening the important bilateral relationship that exists between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, and is in keeping with the thrust of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago to decisively engage the community of nations with a view to advancing Trinidad and Tobago’s domestic and foreign policy objectives.
During the absence of Minister Dookeran, Dr. the Honourable Roodal Moonilal will act in the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
